Lynne Looney STUDIOS
Lynne's Bio
After over 35 years of painting commissioned work for a varied clientele, Tennessee based artist Lynne Looney now turns her attention to the studio and canvas artwork……..”. I have painted for decades hiring out my talents to please clients…Now I am painting to please myself”.
Lynne Looney was born in Rosebud, Texas in 1953. Perhaps her love of flowers began then for much of her life she has been surrounded by plants and flowers. Lynne worked originally in publishing adding theater, illustration and commercial design and billboards. Anyone traveling the I-35 interstate during the 1980’s will remember seeing Lynne’s “Texas Wildflower” billboards, following Lady Byrd’s dedication of Temple as the Wildflower Capital of Texas, in addition to the “Sir Wigglesworth” and “City of Salado” billboards.
Lynne’s love of flowers continued to grow after she moved to Mexico to attend the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Guananjuato, Mexico where she obtained her BFA in painting in 1980. While in Mexico it intensified with the exposure to the lush flora and vibrant colors of Central Mexico.
In 1988 Lynne moved to Atlanta, Georgia working for the largest events decorator in the Southeast. Since 1992 she has been painting murals and specialty finishes for clientele both in Texas and Georgia. Several years ago she was one of the most prolific artists for the well known mail order catalog “Sugar Hill” where she designed and painted hundreds of decorative one of a kind items that shipped all over the world.
All of Lynne’s artworks are original one of a kind endeavors. Each piece is individually signed and dated on the front of the painting as well as signed on the back with the piece having its own identification number. All sales are guaranteed. If the piece does not meet your expectations it may be returned in original condition for a full refund of the selling price less shipping.
“In simplistic terms, I am a flower painter. But there is nothing simple about the pieces I create. I strive to capture the essence of nature in organic life, to communicate the power and vitality of growth itself. I take whatever liberties necessary to emphasize the wonderment found in nature ~ contrasting textures, shapes, forms ~ whether actual or contrived. Colors are often bright, vibrant and at times garish, but the pieces are always compelling. Couple that with heroic scale and I don’t just make a painting, I create an environment.”
