About Lynne Looney
My first lesson was at age 5 and my formal art degree was from the
Instituto Allende, San Miguel de Allenda, Guanajuto, Mexico. After over
40 years of producing large scale projects of murals, billboards,
theater set design, special events for corporate and private clients in
Texas, Georgia and Tennessee, I now concentrate on my studio work.
Currently, my main areas of interest are large-scale abstracts and
florals, characterized by bold colors, expressive brushwork and
multi-textured surfaces.
I strive to communicate the power and vitality of growth itself. I
take whatever liberties necessary to emphasize the wonderment found in
nature--contrasting textures, shapes, forms--whether actual or
contrived. Colors are often bright, vibrant and at times garish, but the
pieces are always compelling. Couple that with the heroic scale and I
don't just make a painting, I create an environment.
