Department 56 Display-Constructed and painted by Lynne Looney
The Department 56 Display/Train Layout was created for a well known patron that collected Department 56 items. The display was developed in 4 separate parts. The center display which houses the snow scenes involved winter sports. The New England scene with small harbor is on a separate section that includes caves with whimsical items such as treasure chests, octopus, lobsters, etc. The largest area covers two adjacent walls and includes a Dickens section, a Shakespearian/London Section, a mountain with various Bavarian items, an American section with pasture and small village and a New York City section complete with Empire State Building. Many of the buildings and Department 56 items have animation, lights and sound. There are two trains, a holiday passenger train that runs under the mountain and through NYC, and a trolley that goes from the Dickens area to Victoria Station at the base of the mountain. All the scenery was hand made by Lynne and the poor chap she talked into installing the trains and showing her how to do the scenery. The entire project took a little over 6 months. The young lady assisting in some of the pictures is Lynne's Daughter Laura. Some pictures show the display as it is being worked toward completion.
